Remembering the Challenger Disaster, 25 Years Later

I still remember the TV cart being wheeled into my classroom.

The cart! Into the classroom!  Me too!  My teacher was crying :(

I stayed home sick from school and was watching the game show “Scrabble” when they interrupted the broadcast to report on the explosion. I distinctly remember eating carrots and triscuits, both of these foods remind me of this event.

i was 3 when this happened so i don’t have super clear memories. but i remember the aftereffects of it. i wanted to be an astronaut so badly when i was a kid and weirdly i think this event was part of what made me want that. not that i wanted to blow up; but that i wanted to prove it didn’t have to be so sad.

I remember the Punky Brewster episode.

I can’t believe this was 25 years ago. Just last week, T and I were talking about how vividly we remember it.
